Uber Updates: UberGo, Safety Check, #freevaccinerides

TechInAfrica – The ride-hailing taxi Uber South Africa shared on its official website (4 June) that all of its operations in the country now have UberGo as an alternative for a cheaper cost.

It says, ‘Uber Go comes with smaller, fuel-efficient vehicles, with fares priced more affordably than before’.

The option does not deduce the standard safety of the company, such as in-app emergency button, Injury Protection, driver’s screening, and 24/7 access to customer service, which will remain in the low-cost option.

Still, on the safety topic, the company has also ‘spammed’ on its official Twitter account about its safety guidelines and policy in considering COVID-19 and for general matters, accessible to read here.

It has also recently gifted 100,000 free rides for school staff and teachers to get vaccinated in the 281 designated sites in Kwazulu-Natal in an initiative to support the government’s program of 582,000 injected vaccines.
